How is one selected as a Brightest Young Mind? The application process starts with a brief online written form, from which we select the top 200 candidates. Each of these 200 then undergoes a 10 min interview by teleconference with our quasi-independent panel and the top 100 are chosen.

Being selected as one of Australia's Brightest Young Minds depends on so much more than just IQ. We are looking for the future leaders of Australia: We generally look for people with Leadership, Passion, Creativity, Initiative, Intelligence and Perseverance. However, we are very open-minded and consider each application carefully, so feel free to argue for and justify your selection on any other bases you wish.

If you are someone that knows he/she is going to make an impact, then fill out an application now! If you are selected as a BYM, it will unlock a world of opportunity for you. And after experiencing the summit, you will never be the same again. Please remember, you must be between the ages of 18 and 28 (as at 31 December 2009) to apply.

Once you start an application, you do not have to complete it all at once. With your email address and a system generated passcode that will allow you to come back and edit it any time you want before our closing date.

When you are finished your application you must Submit your application to indicate your application is ready for appraisal. Please make sure you don't forget to do this before the closing date. There is a $25 administrative application fee that you will be required to pay for submission. There will be no further fees.

Sunday - 2 August 2009 at midnight

Make sure you refer as many appropriate people as possible to apply. The person that refers the most people automatically will qualify for an interview.
